Types of Russian Soldiers
This is an original 1885 illustration from 'The Graphic' magazine.
The illustration was to support an article on the types of soldiers in the Russian Army and the diplomatic Panjdeh incident. The Panjdeh incident (called in Russian historiography as Battle of Kushka) was an armed engagement between Afghanistan and the Russian Empire in 1885 that led to a diplomatic crisis between the British Empire and the Russian Empire caused by the Russian expansion south-eastwards towards the Emirate of Afghanistan and the British Raj (India).
The print is in excellent condition considering its age.
The print is 16 x 25 cm (approx 6 x 10 inches or c.A4/A5) in size.
